Our unconscious minds contain “software programming” created by collective memories of our experiences. Behaviours such as weight gain to increase perceived boundaries and protection or using food to cope with stress may have been necessary to keep us alive at some point, but maybe these have now become outdated survival mechanisms for you. While hypnosis can create a lot of change on its own and without any additional effort on the part of the person receiving it, when I’ve given myself hypnosis for weight loss, I have found it benefits me personally in continuing ways. For instance, hypnosis also acts as a catalyst for helpful external events that either come to me or that I begin to seek. Weight loss hypnosis shifts what we expect and believe about diet and appearance on the deepest levels. A change in conscious beliefs doesn’t shift the long-term unconscious beliefs and choices that are primarily driving our behaviours, which is one reason why diets can be temporary. A diet without unconscious work won’t address the underlying causes of an issue. A change of inner expectations triggered by hypnosis can bring about outer transformations.

Most of the training I received comes from what I learned at HMI from instructors who are also certified hypnotherapists, and over the years I have developed exercises of my own that I have found to be helpful for myself and for clients.
